MADISON – Governor Jim Doyle today unveiled an improved website for Wisconsin’s Office of Recovery and Reinvestment that promotes accountability and transparency. One new feature of the website is an interactive map which allows individuals to view the all projects that are currently funded through the ARRA in each county.
“We are working very hard to make sure that every community in Wisconsin can take advantage of Recovery Act funds,” Governor Doyle said. “These funds present our state with great opportunities to create jobs and make lasting improvements, and we want to assure Wisconsin citizens that the funds are spent wisely and fairly. The new and improved website is one more tool that makes information easily accessible to the public.”
The website’s interactive map will be updated regularly as communities receive additional ARRA funding for projects. The site also has information to assist local governments, tribal governments, businesses, individuals, educational institutions, non-profits and others in locating information about sources of funding and other assistance provided through the ARRA.
The ARRA has extensive accountability and transparency requirements to ensure that this unprecedented amount of federal money is being spent wisely to create jobs while investing in worthwhile initiatives. Under the act, quarterly reports are required that will list the use of the funds in Wisconsin, measure the number of jobs created or maintained and insure that the funds were used correctly.
