WHEREAS, Frank Lloyd Wright was one of the famous architects of the Twentieth Century, as well as one of Wisconsin’s important citizens; and
WHEREAS, Frank Lloyd Wright designed the S.C. Johnson & Son Administration Building in Racine, Wisconsin, which was entered on the National Register of Historic Places on December 27, 1974, and the adjoining Research Tower; and
WHEREAS, the Administration Building and adjoining Research Tower are imbued with historical characteristics of such significance to warrant the admiration and attention of our State; and
WHEREAS, S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc. has displayed an ongoing commitment to Wisconsin’s culture through the development and maintenance of architectural masterpieces, as recently demonstrated through the “Project Honor” expansion of its corporate headquarters in Racine, Wisconsin; and
WHEREAS, “Project Honor,” designed by Lord Norman Foster, is located adjacent to the Administration Building and Research Tower designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and will have its own architectural significance while serving as an educational tourist center exhibiting the rich and vibrant history of S.C. Johnson & Son, Inc.;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JIM DOYLE, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of this State, do hereby designate the Administration Building and Research Tower designed by Frank Lloyd Wright as a valued historical landmark and an architectural masterpiece thereby making such real property and improvements a cultural and architectural landmark.
