Governor Walker Announces 600 Jobs Coming to Superior

Project Will Add Jobs at Kestrel Aircraft Company 

MADISONGovernor Scott Walker today announced that Kestrel Aircraft Corporation will establish its manufacturing and headquarters in Superior, creating up to 600 new jobs.

 

“I am pleased with the aggressive package we have put forth in conjunction with strong local support to make this major job creation contribution to Superior,” said Governor Walker. “This relocation will be a huge boost to the Superior-area economy."

Two state agencies, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Develop Authority, partnered with local officials to bring Kestrell’s expansion to Superior.“This combined effort by Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Wisconsin Housing Economic Development Authority, the city and county shows how serious we are about Wisconsin’s commitment to supporting business development and the creation of good paying jobs,” said Paul Jadin, CEO of the WEDC.  

 

The WEDC will create an Enterprise Zone in Superior to provide $18 million in tax credits to Kestrel Aircraft Corporation. WEDC will provide a $2 million loan and is working with the Wisconsin Housing and Economic

Development Authority (WHEDA) to secure a $2 million State Small Business Credit Initiative program loan. The repayment of the WEDC loan and eligibility of tax credits are based on the capital investment, worker training and job creation by the company.

WHEDA has committed to work with Kestrel to obtain a $30 million allocation of New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) for the Superior project. NMTC is a U.S. Department of the Treasury program that assists businesses that locate and grow in qualified low-income areas.

I am pleased that WHEDA is partnering with local officials and WEDC to use our new economic development tools including SSBCI,” said Wyman Winston, WHEDA Executive Director. “It is a testament to the people of Superior that Kestrel Aircraft is committed to build the next generation of commercial aircraft utilizing the know-how and talent available in the state of Wisconsin.”

Governor Walker Announces Project to Create More than 120 Jobs in Green Bay

MADISON - Governor Scott Walker today announced that Shopko will commence a corporate expansion project with assistance from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) that will result in the creation of more than 120 new positions at its corporate headquarters in Green Bay. 

"My number one priority is helping Wisconsin businesses create jobs," Governor Walker said. "I am pleased we were able to work with Shopko to support their expansion and ensure it will take place in Wisconsin."

 “We appreciate the WEDC working with us to support our growth and bring new, good paying jobs to Wisconsin,” commented Paul Jones, President and CEO of Shopko. 

 Founded in 1963 and headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Shopko is a $2 billion retailer that operates 149 stores in 13 states throughout the Midwest, Mountain and Pacific Northwest regions. The company announced today a merger that will result in a significant investment in Wisconsin and creation of new positions at its corporate headquarters in Green Bay.  The creation of more than 120 new jobs will be assisted with an award of up to $2 million in Economic Development Tax Credits administered by the WEDC.

 

Gov. Walker Attends Groundbreaking for Uline Distribution Center in Hudson

Twenty-five million dollar relocation brings 150 jobs to Wisconsin

 Madison - Governor Scott Walker today attended a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of the new 600,000 square foot warehouse for Uline Shipping Supply Specialists.  The family company is moving its operation across the border from its Eagan, MN distribution center to a 63 acre lot on Hanley Road. 

“It’s an exciting day when a company breaks ground on a project of this size in Wisconsin,”   said Governor Walker.  “ I’m thrilled Uline decided to build its expanded distribution center here in our great state, where the company has such deep ties.”

 The Hudson location is expected to to open in the Summer of 2013.  It will serve customers in Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska and Northern Wisconsin.

 Uline is a family owned business that supplies packaging and shipping supplies to businesses.  They stock more than 25,000 items in each of the nine branch locations across North America.

The company prides itself on customer service.  All orders placed by 6:00 p.m. ship the same day by 7:00 p.m.  Uline was founded in 1980. 

 Uline company headquarters are located in Pleasant Prairie, WI.

Spectrum Brands Receives Award to Retain Jobs at its Madison Headquarters, Invest in Wisconsin Operations

MADISON - Governor Scott Walker announced today that Spectrum Brands Holdings has received a $4,000,000 award from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) to maintain jobs at its corporate headquarters in the Madison area and make capital investments at its Wisconsin operations. 

“We’re pleased that Spectrum is committed to staying in Wisconsin and is making a major investment in its operations,” said Governor Walker.  “We’re also excited that they are currently in the process of hiring up to 60 workers at their headquarters.”

The terms of the award require Spectrum Brands to maintain up to 470 existing full-time jobs in the Madison area and make at least $40,000,000 of capital investments in its Wisconsin operations in order to meet the conditions of the award. In addition to its Madison area worldwide headquarters, Spectrum has battery manufacturing plants in Fennimore and Portage, and a returns center in DeForest.

“This award has been provided to preserve jobs at Spectrum Brands headquarters as part of the company’s investment in its operations,” according to Paul Jadin, CEO of the WEDC.

“Since our origins, more than 100 years ago, as a battery manufacturer on Madison’s east side, our company has played a significant role as a major employer in Dane County and other parts of Wisconsin,” said Dave Lumley, Chief Executive Officer of Spectrum Brands Holdings, Inc.  “We appreciate this award from Governor Walker and WEDC as we have made a commitment to retain our headquarters and operations in Wisconsin and invest in our future in the state.”

Governor Walker Announces Blue7 Solutions Joint Venture

Company Will Create 250 Full-Time Jobs                  

Madison-Today Governor Walker joined Blue Star Infotech Ltd. CEO Sunil Bhatia, and Trisept Solutions CEO John Ische to announce a joint venture entity, Blue7 Solutions LLC.  The company expects to create up to 250 full-time, good paying jobs over the next five years and will be located in the Village of Bayside.

“I want to congratulate Sunil and John, and thank them for their decision to locate their company in Milwaukee,” said Governor Walker.  “I’m pleased that the state could partner with Blue Star Infotech and Trisept Solutions to help grow jobs in Wisconsin.  They will hire hundreds of new employees for good-paying Milwaukee-based IT jobs.  This is great news for Wisconsin families and we’re excited to make this announcement.”

The company is eligible for incentives totaling up to $3,750,000 through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) for the joint venture entity.  The project proposes to establish a U.S. based global travel technology services delivery center in Bayside, Wisconsin. The joint venture entity will create up to 250 new full-time positions paying an average salary of $60,000 per year.

 

Governor Walker Announces Jobs Being Added at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry

Project Will Add 43 Positions in Manitowoc  

Madison - Governor Scott Walker announced today that Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry Company, Inc., will invest $7.5 million to expand and equip its facility in Manitowoc.  The expansion is projected to create up to 43 new jobs at the company. 

“I’m pleased that the state could partner with Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry to help them grow jobs,” said Governor Walker.  “The company has deep roots in Manitowoc and we’re excited to see them expand.” 

"Wisconsin Aluminum is pleased to host Governor Walker and his team today as we kick-off our largest expansion in 17 years,” said Kory Brockman, the company’s Chief Financial Officer.  “The financial support of the WEDC and the solid working relationship we have with the City of Manitowoc has been key to this project's fruition. This expansion will not only create many new jobs, but allow WAF to grow with its existing customers, and create capacity for new customers in the future." 

The company is eligible for up to $210,000 in economic development tax credits through the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) for the expansion project.  The project involves expanding the current facility by 35,000 square feet and adding two production lines. The building expansion and first production line will be completed in early 2012 and the second production line will be completed in late 2012.

 WAF was founded in Manitowoc in 1909 and is one of the leading producers in the country of non-ferrous castings.
